World Record Crappie Angler Portrait

The late John Horstman poses with the IGFA world record black crappie caught in a Missouri private lake. Select alternate views to see the reference photo used for this fish portrait. This slab crappie and fisherman were a joy to paint. The fish was named "Pat" and was on display in the large aquarium at Bass Pro Shops in Columbia, Missouri. While painting this trophy portrait I got the sense that John was destined to catch Pat.
